I had already been buying cassettes for a few years before I got a cd player.

So I think the first cd I ever bought was Nirvana's "Sliver/Dive" single, but with two live tracks, before Inceticide came out.

But first record. . . it would have to be Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em.

I always got a kick out of the dual usage. Is it an awful band name? An awful last name? Both?

Cassettes: New Model Army s/t , Depeche Mode People are People

CD: Ride Nowhere

Longbox!

I owned that Britney Fox release and The Real Thing on cassette, and a friend had the Enuff Z'Nuff cassette. Bel Biv Devoe my friends and i pretty much avoided, though. Our white guilt music was Living Colour.*

first cassette: U2 - Unforgettable Fire
first LP - Surfin' Safari (some surf compilation)
first cd: Pixies - Doolittle

i had the advantage of being the youngest kid - so i had the benefit of my brother's being in college when i was starting jr high, so i had a little head start on "cool" music.

I think it was "Future Days."

I held out a long time before buying CDs.

which as I recall was kind of a dodgy quasi-official release on Castle...[/url]

(While on the same outing, my younger brother also bought his first - this one:

If you think Quiet Riot was shit in general, even if you're one of those who can find no redeeming cuts from 'Metal Health', and you think the whole outfit is shit, period. EVEN THEN - you cannot fathom the shit that is 'QR III'... and the most pathetic, cruel twist of fate is that out of those 4 original discs, 'QR III' is the only one we can currently lay hands on... apparently no one of our childhood friends even considered stealing it...

Oh the hilarity and grimacing that ensues when we pull out 'QR III' after a few beers...
