does this mean that i could bring in the wav files from a multitrack session recorded in my home studio?
and then pay you to dump them into protools, fuss with the levels, run it all through nice gear, etc prior to mastering?

The sky around here has been on fire recently.
Now, with this development about pro tools, I'm leaning towards Armageddon.

Man, and the interns thought wet-ragging a console was nerve-wracking. Try that on a keyboard without accidentally starting up a program you never knew existed or deleting all the precious "files".

Also, might I recommend a screensaver with a logo that changes colors like the mid-side decoder?

Keeping the interests of bands in mind, this is a good decision. No one needs to hear me say that now do they?
The talent of the fine folks at EA translates as well to digital as to tape...surely. People still want Greg and Steve to make their record sound awesome.
And on top of all that, most everyone coming to EA would probably want to use tape any way, because analog loyalty was the foundation on which the studio was built...right? I doubt anyone has ever sat down to track and immediately scoffed at the tape hiss.
Just one more luxury the studio offers.
If your heart looks like this at the news:
you are a neanderthal turd.
Still...fuck digital. TEAC 4 Life.
(Yeah, fuck its convenience, editing options, putting good records at arm's length from a good band with no money. Idiots.)
