I had a couple of Bells Pale Ales the other night - our drummer is a rep. It was really good. Haven't had a two-hearted in a while tho.

Zom Zom - you could have been served out of a nasty tapper or something. I've had that happen to me with other beers - for some reason it just tastes like crap.

I love Bell's, they can do no wrong--ESPECIALLY where Two-Hearted Ale is concerned. It is the elixir of the gods, and I would suck it out of Bill O'Reilly's bladder.

For all you non-haters out there, Great Divide Titan IPA is about as close as it gets to Bell's Two-Hearted. You can usually get some from the good folks at West Lakeview Liquors, at Addison & Leavitt.

Seriously, none of the great European or British beers have this disgusting taste. It's not beer, it's like beer concentrate. Foul, unrefreshing thick emulsion.

People who think this Bell's shit is great beer need to spend some time drinking good beers from the Old Country.

Y'know, as I was reading this I was just thinking of how Two-Hearted is a perfect emulation of a hoppy bitter I had from an independent brewer in southern England. Guess it depends on where you go. I rarely call a beer objectively "bad" and I wouldn't assign that label to any of Bell's regular runs.

I wish them best of luck in their ensuing legal battle.

Well, it sure doesn't taste like any Bitter I've ever had. Maybe the poisoned idea of this sort of beer has migrated to the UK.

Tastes bad to me.

If the Two Hearted Ale is the one with some fish on the bottle, I agree with you.

That being said however, you should check out some of the other brands of this beer...I am a big fan. Start with Oberon Ale:

McGarvey is right about New Glarus being a fantastic beer (higher quality than Bell's)...but that beer is so nice and smooth that it gets old. New Glarus beers are like a fucking meal.

Chris & other Wisconsin inhabitants: try motherfucking CAPITAL BREWERY. So many different flavors...all with the same aftertaste, all good.

Oh thank god! I miss Bell's Oberon. I found a place that smuggled them in from time to time, but they ended up getting plucked quickly.

MBC (Michigan Brewing Company- the other major Michigan Beer) beats Bells at every turn. Do ya'll have that in Chicago.
