Are you kidding? When they ban the internet we'll gloat about these days.

"You see that guy, that guy they built a statue of outside the Houses of Parliament? That man, son, was Mark Prindle in the olden days he had what we used call "an internet" and your mother and idea would use a system of wires and nodules to communicate electronic messages to each other to discuss his visionary ideas and poems... of course, thats all a thing of the past now."

My Uncle and his now ex-wife met in the "pit" of a Metallica gig when they were both in high school, so around the "...And Justice For All" days. No shit. He supposedly decked some jock asshole and got kicked out and she went with him. SAD BUT TRUE.

Anyways, my parents met at work.

I met my wife at a show I was playing.

My father met my mother at a show he was playing.

My grandfather on my father's side met my grandmother on my father's side at a show he was playing.

My grandfather on my mother's side met my grandmother on my mother's side at some weird Christian Scientist event that they both thought was bogus, so they left for NYC.

At Mormon youth group when they were both in high school. Married just after my mom graduated high school. Two kids in three years and everything was magical until my father discovered the whole big damn world out there, and the magical things in it, like booze and pills and vaginas.

He started humping his second wife while they were still married and they ran off with my mom's parent's retirement money and a large check he got for fraudulently selling his best friend's house to the mailman.

Dad's on marriage number three and this one will last. I think he's tired.

My dad was in the Air Force stationed in newfoundland. My mom was teaching school to kids on the base. My dad got transferred and they didn't see each other for a few years. They finally reconnected back in the states and starting writing to each other. They saw each other once after getting back and my dad proposed in a letter.

My mom was a folk music type in Chicago. She was at a recording studio with her out-of-tune autoharp. My father and his rock band were there as well. The guys in the band basically made fun of my mother for needing to tune her autoharp but my dad offered to tune it for her. The rest, as they say, is history.
In retrospect, I should have stepped off the stage and utter-kicked Mrs. O'Leary's cow.

My paternal grandparents (both very short) met in the circus that they both travelled around the country with. My grandma was a human propeller -- she hung from her teeth while being spun at 100 miles per hour. She is in her eighties now, and still has her original teeth. My grandpa performed acrobatic stunts with his brothers (spring-board built human pyramids, hand-stands on the Empire State Building, etc.). They then had 11 children together, being the good catholics that they are. None of their off-spring, nor any of their grandchildren (over 30 and still counting) followed in their (circus) footsteps. I did have one aunt who went on to dance professionally in NYC, before she went off to join an ashram in India. My grandpa has since passed away... but I must add that they had been married for over 50 years and never have I ever met a couple that so loved each other as much as my grandparents loved each other.

My dad is the oldest of the bunch. He met my mother at a beach party at Lake Michigan (I am guessing South Haven Beach). He just knew he would marry her, and sure enough he did. She passed away two years ago, two months shy of their 40th anniversary.
