I saw Jesus Lizard in Vail, CO in 1995 or 96. I think Cowboy Junkies headlined. I left before the Cowboy Junkies.

It was in a hockey arena that seated about 3,000 people. I would guess 150 people showed up, tops.

There is nothing weird about this! Remember kids all this type music was new back then, and there was much less musical segregation than the pseudo hip types enforce nowadays. Anything that was unique, creative and alternative could drink from the same water fountains and everything!

What is a bit strange is the Melvins opened for Rush around this time. Didn't see it myself but I've heard the Rush fans were confused.
