I guess you're on an Archers kick today?

I often wonder the same thing. I'm tight with all of them, especially Matt, so I often forget about how great they were.

Matt and I were talking about great bass players over beers one night and he started listing off his favorites:
David Sims
Paul Simonon
Rose Marschack
Tommy Stinson
Bob Weston

so I went to list mine and I immediately realized Matt was on the list.

I forget about this all the time because we lived together for 4 years and eat Thanksgiving togther every year. He's just a dude I hike with, not my bass hero.

Same with Mark. I think he's a fantastic drummer - in my top 5 - but lately he's the guy who helps me understand bikes. I always forget the many times I watched him play shows while my jaw was on the floor.

A fine band, them Archers.

not crap. not all of it is great, but all the nations airports is. i listen to "scenic pastures" practically every day at some point in the car while the ipod's on shuffle. i miss eric bachmann's archers voice (even though for airports he said "i got polyps so that's why it's more instrumental" or something like that, har)...i like crooked fingers, i do, but yeah. i miss archers of loaf. i miss what they stand for in my head too, the 90s indie rock thing. i guess it's a bit like missing the scud mountain boys when i hear the pernice brothers...i like the pernice brothers okay, but (sigh)...etc. i know that sounds stupid and people here will totally laugh at me if they read that. but i really miss so much 90s music, yesido.
i don't wanna post any more comments 'cause if i do my status will no longer be "courtesan."

i think i like-like basically every single archers of loaf record, they can't get enough not craps. but...everyone should listen to the new eric bachmann solo release if you have not already. i mean, wow. just fucking unbelievable. almost totally bad. not even compared to former projects, but compared to bad music.

Wow man, I really like Crooked Fingers a lot. I haven't heard the solo record. I'm not sure I get what that is, since I think of Crooked Fingers as "Eric with a smidgen of extra input" e.g.- "solo artist".

I listened to All The Nation's Airports while driving down to Seattle the other night, and I'm pretty torn on this record. If there weren't so many damn instrumentals on the second side, this would easily rival Vee Vee, but they just drag the record down.

But damn, "Chumming the Ocean" is such a great, great song. I think it might be my favorite vocal performance of Bachman's.

Woah.

I've known about Archers of Loaf for a year or so now, and besides the song White Trash Heroes didn't think much of them, but after searching through some of their popular songs I instantly recognized one of them.

Web in Front

I remember hearing that song on the radio when I was like 10! I distinctly remember the line "well it's a possibility."

weird

It now joins the likes of Shady Lane and Early To Rise on the list of songs that I've finally been reunited with after all of these years.
