So I've had a couple of goes on what the board game nerds dub 'a heavy Euro' in
Paladins of the West Kingdom.
Very, very good. Strategic nightmare, but well worth the brainwork.
Ooh, I like Paladins...

Anyone tried Wingspan yet? I bought it recently but haven't had time to dig into it yet.

I like it for the artwork. It's tricky though. My kids routinely beat me, so maybe I should try harder. There's not a lot of back and forth. That's the main criticism. You just kind of put your head down and play your cards independent of the other guy. We play the Oceania expansion.

Finally had a crack at
War of the Ring today. Very good. Similar to Star Wars: Rebellion in some ways but has enough about it to be its own thing. Annoyingly it's really necessary to paint at least the bases of the figures for ease of distinguishing, and I've really no interest in that sort of thing.

Finally painted those bases. Shall get stuck into this sometime soon. Looking forward to it.

Had two games of Dune: Imperium this morning, and really enjoyed it. Great blend of worker placement, deck building and card strategy. I imagine it's even more enjoyable if you're into the lore.
Expansion arrived yesterday, so giving it a go later today. Looks great.

Anachrony is a very enjoyable worker-placement headfuck.

My son bought Betrayal at House on the Hill over the weekend. Played it twice so far, with a viewing of TableTop’s walk-through between our first and second games. Excellent game right there.

Now I'm back home, there's been a bit of gaming happening.
Pagan: Fate of Roanake. Very smart card-based deduction game. Has mechanical similarities to Netrunner. Really nice.
Furnace. Mechanically really interesting auction/engine builder. Very clever auction management.
Yet to play
Churchill, but shall be doing in the next week or two.
