I feel that's more stew than hot dog.
No, because the chili and dog are cooked separately.

Totally agree. That said, the wife and I will once a year or so make chili from scratch just to make chili dogs, and those are superb. Doubtful that most places are putting in that kind of work. Got a semi-gag gift can of "Michigan Sauce" from my Father-in-law which stayed in the pantry for forever until we finally broke down and tried it. Full gag gift. Jesus, people.

Yup. That's the one. The garden puts such a nice balance to the whole thing, and the char instead of the steam adds a little snap.

Tough decision. Sonoran and Chicago cannot be fucked with. I am curious about Reindeer though. Must go to Alaska before I vote.
Sonoran is very good. I feel like addition of fresh jalapeño would work really well.
Yeah, you can get jalapeños, usually grilled also, on the street here. I don't. My uh "constitution" can't handle them even if my mouth can.

Nothing like coming out of a concert at midnight with a slight buzz and having a Danger Dog on the corner.

Of the ones I've had, Sonoran. Chicago second.

The Chicago dog is something special that I didn't have until later in life. Agreed that char is the way to go though most places don't roll that way.

But I still put Coneys first cause it's hard to leave your roots. It is in fact claimed that the Detroit places use beef heart but it's not like they share the chili recipes. Koegel dogs are good. So Coneys. Then Chicago.

DAMN, I didn't even think about that. Grilled jalapeños would work great on them, too. Either fresh or grilled would be way better than pickled.

Sorry, I got hungry.

The correct answer is the Nordic dog, like the ones you get on the street in Copenhagen and Stockholm: pork hot dog, one or two kinds of mustard, raw onions, fried or dehydrated onions, slivers of barely pickled cukes, ketchup (which I always leave off), and tiny-shrimp salad (which I also leave off, although MrsEaster is a convert). The version w/the bacon-wrapped pølser is also very happening. Always w/beer.

From this list, I suppose I'd go classic NYC.

I actually like the Chicago dog a hell of a lot despite the oddness of it, and I might even give it the edge were it not for the inferior mustard (go grainy or go home).

Never had that Alaskan or New York System mess, but I'm intrigued, although no fucking way do I want coffee milk w/my sausage. No vote for third, I guess..
