Oasis by a mile. Few bands deserve to be derided as much as them. It’s utterly derivative drill with faux blue collar dickheadary. Probably the worst popular band of the 20th century.

Exactly. This fookin' beige rock regularly got compared to the Beatles when it came out. And from a few interactions with them I've read they seemed like the worst of cunts: soccer hooligans with mop haircuts.

That said, adding Goo Goo Dolls and Sublime to the poll ups the stakes a bit. Tough call..

The two new additions do not change my vote. The Sublime song is meh; still not as bad as "Lightning Crashes".

You just brought down the whole wedding reception. Thanks a lot dude.
Yeah, if the poll was for "Iris" and not "Name", I might have to rethink my vote. But "Name" isn't as bad as "Iris"; it doesn't have the offending lyric above.

Nah, 'She's So High' is (just barely) in that 'well crafted pop song' category.

Vote still goes to 'Lightning Crashes'.
Weren't the Goo Goo Dolls around for like, a lot of years before they got super popular in the 90's? They belong in a different poll with Soul Asylum and a few others in that category.

Hearing Sublime again was my impetus for creating the poll, but I managed to omit them. I think Santeria is actually worse, but was less pervasive.

Yep. That always cracked me up.

That Live song is by far the worst of this bunch and one of the worst songs ever. Oasis might as well be the Beatles in comparison, and after reading the Rolling Stone story about the Live dudes' post-Live existence (ridiculous CRAP), and watching a few recent interviews with Noel Gallagher (surprisingly not crap), I'd much rather hang out with NG than the dumbshits in Live.

“Name” is like a passable third tier Westerberg solo song, but compared to fucking “Iris” it’s “Left Of The Dial”.

How was that band on Metal Blade?!?!?!?!?

Iris was released in 1998, which planted it firmly in the early butt rock era. I think the mid-90's was the last time that rock (along with hip-hop/R&B) really "ruled the airwaves." I'll concur that it's worse than Name.

The problem is just when you think you've hit bottom (Live) something even more atrocious (Sublime) rears its ugly head.

Example: Barenaked Ladies.

What if the Live song didn’t have a man singing about a placenta? Would that change things?
