Do I use another guitar lead and go from my guitar into the instrument input on the front of the amp?Last night I tried it like this: Guitar > tuner > (other pedals not on) > Rusty Box > Access In / Out.There aren't really any dumb questions. As for what you mentioned, that's exactly it. Go straight into the front, and see if that connection suddenly makes the Rusty Box sound markedly different versus what you tried that didn't work at all. If nothing else, you will know if it sounds berserk both ways.Another thing that's worth trying is what you have tried(that sounded nuts) with the "Instrument" output instead of the "Line" output. It could be something as simple as that the jack doesn't like line level. Trying it both ways should give you some idea of what is going on(if nothing else).

Verbs & Nouns wrote:Well last night I tried from the œline and œmain outputs from the Rusty Box. The line output signal was uncontrollable, the main output signal didn t sound much different than my normal set up.Copy that.Based on the bit in red, I would try hooking it up with an Insert cable. As for one other thing you could try before buying an insert cable -If you have one, grab a pedal that there is no way you will not be able to tell that it is in play that also has an "Instrument" level output(Fuzz/Delay/Modulation effects come to mind). Try hooking that pedal up the way you did the Rusty Box. If it still sounds about the same, I'd guess that the "Send" signal running from that jack not going anywhere means that no effected signal is being returned to that jack.

From the block diagram for the 470 that I just found on Google, it appears that the accessory jack is indeed an insert point of sorts, but wired opposite of conventional mixing console inserts. On a mixer, the TRS insert is typically wired Tip-send and Ring-return. The 470 appears to be Ring-send and Tip-return, with the Ring and Tip normalled when nothing is inserted. This makes sense because plugging an external device in using a TS cable such as a standard instrument cable would shunt the signal from the internal preamp to ground due to no ring connection (the same reason a guitar pedal running on a battery generally won t power on without a cable plugged in). The signal present on the Tip of the instrument cable would then continue on to the power amp section of the 470.It also looks like there is no signal attenuation between the accessory jack and the power amp, so you d probably want to use the Rusty Box s main out as it s after the RB s volume control. And be sure to use a TS cable.

Ordered a boxidizer a week ago and haven't heard a peep since. No message. No shipping. Nothing. In the Amazon age, a week feels like I should've got it, played it, broke it, returned it and got a new one already. No biggee, I'm just pumped to hear the magic.

A recurring struggle of mine has been dragging 300 lbs of bass equipment to shows to get into an argument with sound people who insist on running a DI. I've tried to figure the most respectful ways to explain that I would prefer the cabinet mic'ed up, I use amp overdrive and amp feedback, I play bass more like a guitar than a reggae dub bass. I have even gone to the extent to bring an SM57 with me (not ideal but it's fine for what I'm doing). I either have endure some lecture or have an argument where it feels like I'm pulling teeth just to get a live sound situation that I'm comfortable in. I have immense respect for sound people and presume that they want shows to sound good but that's a subjective opinion and a lot of times, sound people just don't get what I'm going for. Often times the bass mix in the monitors sound like muddy garbage, I feel lost on stage and it fucks me up while playing. /rantRather than let this effect my mood before a set, I want to see if I can run a DI via the Rusty Box. Again, sound people seem perplexed about how to run a DI through the Rusty Box so I was wondering if anyone here has a DI box hooked up to their Rusty Box so that I can just give the sound person a XLR output to just plug into. Any recommendations on a DI box / settings?
