So today was the day. So we went to the doctor and they confirmed that my Dad has stage 4 esophageal cancer, that has spread to the liver. The brain MRI was negative, so that's a positive. He also tested positive for a specific form of his cancer that only a mere 11% of the population has. We are like, great, so what horrors does the 11% of this specific weird cancer hold.

Friends, because it is this rare form of cancer, it is fucking treatable and reacts very well to a certain chemo treatment; it is no longer a death sentence, the old man is going to live!!!!!!!!!!!

Sure, this is incurable, and he will have to have treatment his whole life, but the doctor said this has an 84% chance of going into remission within 5 months (!??!?!?!) and could likely return to work in 6 months. I literally had to have the doctor repeat this to me at least four times because I was so fucking gobsmacked I could not comprehend what he said.

Anyway I am so fucking jacked on witnessing a near miracle I am going to fight a shark and win.

HUZZAH!!!!
Is it a specific genetic mutation? The deeper they've gotten into the genome the more they've been able to pinpoint treatment(see FM Gramsci and me)making it more successful, and in some cases more tolerable than it was when I was first diagnosed.

You know I am not exactly sure, but I believe it is something like that. I am going to have a little one on one time with the doctor when we start treatment tomorrow. Looking forward to learning more.

And thanks all, your good thoughts mean a lot.
