I wish that I could stomach some of the more exotic foods available. I have a pretty burly gag reflex though. It's all mental. If I think something will smell bad, It will make me gag. Anyone have any suggestions to overcome this?

two chefs i've worked for that have been to the french laundry both agreed it was the best meal they'd ever had. and both chefs are actually way into new american cuisine and so for whatever reason have a thing against french cooking and the classics in general.

it seems kinda crazy to me. i'll look online at the tasting menu and it's like, ok i know this has gotta taste great, but god damn i so don't want to eat tongue! i feel like were i to accompany my chef boyfriend to french laundry for his awesome experience, i would kill it by asking for an insane amount of bread and butter. totally lame. how was the french laundry a ridiculous experience for you?

The best part of that was the Voodoo Doughnut guy saying "Yeah, we can't make those any more because the FDA says you can't put medicine in food."

C'mon, someone who lives in/goes to Portland a lot must be reading this.
