Yeah, Cave Hill is a must visit...very tranquil and beautiful old feel.
Also, I noticed 'evan' that your myspace band is friends with my friend Matt Kalb's band...he and my pal David are in CH and do Audubon Park and I guess Matt does that Hotel Motel thing too. Good peeps those...I miss them dearly. They would have many suggestions as they lived here before moving to NC.
Great Escape is definitely a choice local spot too for the geekier side of things, I love going there when I have any money...the used CDs and vinyl can sometimes yield some good finds too.
If you're out in the Vietnam Kitchen way, somewhat closer, near 3rd and Central (past UofL heading towards VK and right near 4th and Central's Churchill Downs) resides Santa Fe Grill...probably the single best restaurant in the city in my opinion...dirt cheap mexican food...as in, stuff yourself like a pig for $5 or less...it definitely tops my list of places in town though VK is amazing as well a bit further in that direction.
