I'm not a huge fan of most fusion, but there's some interesting stuff out there. Fusion is basically the melding of jazz with rock and various ethnic or "world music" styles. Some decent stuff:

Miles Davis' later stuff
John McLaughlin and Mahavishnu Orchestra
Jeff Beck
Herbie Hancock
James Blood Ulmer
Jean-Luc Ponty
Al Dimeaola
Alain Caron
Carlos Santana
Steely Dan
Jaco Pastorious

You edited twice and forgot Weather Report both times. They defined the genre, and were the most cerebral of the bunch. Let's not forget Steps Ahead, Bill Frisell, Kazumi Watanabe, Pat Metheny or Bass Desires as well. Many more I forgot, I'm sure.

I'm predicting a sure-fire PRF jizz of disapproval in 3,2,1... GO

I'm just not that big a fan of Weather Report. Bill Frisell is indeed awesome. I especially like Praxis. Steps Ahead I hadn't heard until just about 3 minutes ago when I Seeqpodded it. It was OK but isn't really the kind of thing I'd listen to regularly. Bit too WNUA for my taste.

Like I said, I'm not a huge fan of most fusion.

Oh yeah, as for the "edited twice" remark, fuck you.

;)

As for your condescending sly-wink emoticon, fuck you back.
