One is in the geek family gene pool and the other is in the frat daddy gene pool.
Another way of looking at this is one is of the sort that will try to bludgeon you with knowledge while the other is of the sort that will, when confronted with complexity, try to bludgeon you with an object.

Man, I hate everyone. But it's the hipsters that really make me want to kill. At least I can connect with bros on a base instinctual level. They strive only to drink and party which is generally my state of mind whenever I encounter them. They usually aren't self aware so I can't hold them at fault for they're idiocy. Hipsters on the other hand infuriate me to no end because they try so hard to be hipsters. Bros occur natural but a hipster makes a concious decision to be a douche. Now that its cool to be a socially awkward sweater wearing, indie rocking, polaroid snapping fuckhead I'm out of a niche. I had to switch to metal.

don't know if anyone said this and lack the time to read the thread:
all hipsters are douchebags but not all douchebags are hipsters.

Furthermore, not all douchebags are 'bros' but I'm pretty sure all 'bros' are douchebags.
