My band is playing the NJ show, and I'm fucking excited, but bummed that I won't get to see Paul Leary.

For these shows, Jeff Pinkus will be on bass and Teresa Taylor (along with King Coffey) on drums. This is the rhythm section the band had for most of the 80s and marks the first time this line up has played together since 1989.

Paul Leary has prior commitments and unfortunately can't play the European dates (he will be on stage for the New York City show and possibly more stateside).

I still don't understand the TGR vs BHS controversy being the Butthole's fault. They hired a manager to take care of the business side of their career. Corey refused to take phone calls from their manager because he doesn't like managers. Rather than call them directly to try to address whatever it was they wanted to talk about, he ignored them and their requests. The Buttholes sued to get the rights to their catalog back because Corey had refused to communicate with them.

I don't have any interest in seeing them anymore, and I understand that Corey's done a lot for music, but he should respect bands enough to let them decide how they want to do business.

If some guy claiming to represent some of your friends sent you some faxes demanding ridiculous shit in direct contradiction of your long-standing relationship with your friends, you'd probably ignore him. I know I would.

From a legal and ethical standpoint, the BHS did not have a leg to stand on, and this decision created a split in decisions between different circuits, implying that Corey would probably have won on appeal. But what he would have "won" was the right to continue working with disgruntled assholes.

It seems only fair that by letting the decision go to the BHS, he allowed them to "win" the right to let their catalog disappear and themselves to go broke.

That's the part of the whole saga I find the most puzzling, unless they were deluding themselves and buoyed by a freak hit, did they honestly believe another label would be able to promote them to greater sales and look after their 'retirement fund' or however they described it with quite the same dedication? and that's not to mention the share of any profits. Pyrrhic victory? I think that's the phrase.
