Yeah.. kid plays more like Grohl than his dad. Respect.ChudFusk wrote: Mon Sep 05, 2022 12:12 pm OK scratch all those other options, as the only right answer is Shane Hawkins.

42Yeah it looks like his dad just sat him down in front of videos of FMDG and said "like that".

43Really hard not to be moved by that footage and gd, that kid can actually fucking drum!

44Not sure how much anyone has been following subsequent tribute concerts, but this showed up in my YT feed. It doesn’t exactly give the answer this thread is looking for, but maybe FM DG could possibly get a gig as Rush’s drummer.
Ok, fine, no, dumb idea, but…
First part of clip is Geddy+Alex+Dave playing the overture of 2112.

45It's kind of weird that they're doing that. There were many chances for fans to see Rush play the hits with Peart, including a farewell tour. Peart's style isn't something I've been crazy about since I was 12, but it doesn't really sound like Rush without him.
(edit: ok it's not its own thing and part of the Foo Fighters concert. Still odd)

46Agree. Those songs just don’t sound right on a (more or less) standard drum kit.penningtron wrote: Fri Oct 07, 2022 7:58 am Peart's style isn't something I've been crazy about since I was 12, but it doesn't really sound like Rush without him.
Say what you will about Peart and his excessive drum/percussion setup, but he actually seemed to use all of it.

47I was under the impression that Peart was hurting too much near the end to play any more, which is why they stopped in the first place.penningtron wrote: Fri Oct 07, 2022 7:58 am It's kind of weird that they're doing that. Re: Will Foo Fighters go on, and if so, how?
48There was a bit more of a gap between their last show and his death than I remembered. It did make me appreciate Peart more, as the other drummers just kind of sound like thunk thunk thunk on those songs.ChudFusk wrote: Fri Oct 07, 2022 11:23 amI was under the impression that Peart was hurting too much near the end to play any more, which is why they stopped in the first place.penningtron wrote: Fri Oct 07, 2022 7:58 am It's kind of weird that they're doing that. It was not intended to be a serious suggestion.
