Today's shot of schadenfreude:
Tesla loses billions in stock and hackers have knocked out X multiple times.
Re: Politics
4532On the positive side, Bernie would have won or certainly had a decent shot and he's back out there again making the case, possibly one last time, and his mantle is clearly up for grabs and people are already making plays for it (Walz etc.).
Re: Politics
4533If the table had turned, I think we would have President Walz right now.
I'd rather be throwing darts.

4534You mean Kamala would have abdicated? Not sure if I understand.Krev wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 9:23 am If the table had turned, I think we would have President Walz right now.
I'm not convinced that guy had what it took to succeed. He was a serial liar about incredibly dumb, inconsequential stuff, when he should have been going big with lies. Also looked visibly befuddled when Vance unexpectedly stroked his ego during their debate. I don't think he'll be back. I could see some young buck taking over for Bernie...AOC or someone from that bunch, but it's a pretty thankless job to be the torchbearer for reasonability, so not sure if anybody is going to want that gig.

Re: Politics
4535Walz did better before he started giving really scripted answers but even then, there are probably limits to how far he could go. But I'm also not a "Bernie would have won" type either, knowing how hard the right AND the center would go after him.

4536No, I mean middle America is misogynistic and won't elect a woman.zorg wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 9:49 amYou mean Kamala would have abdicated? Not sure if I understand.Krev wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 9:23 am If the table had turned, I think we would have President Walz right now.

Re: Politics
4537Oh so that's why it's been crashing even more than usual. I fail to see the point of this action.
born to give
Re: Politics
4538X needs to formerly exist. We now have Truth Social as a conduit for lies.
I'd rather be throwing darts.

4539Fewer clicks, fewer profits for X, no? I don't think it's anything more complicated than that.Dovira wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 11:48 amOh so that's why it's been crashing even more than usual. I fail to see the point of this action.
I haven't opened my account quite yet.Krev wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 12:05 pm X needs to formerly exist. We now have Truth Social as a conduit for lies.

Re: Politics
4540While I really liked Walz, but I think Kamala did a number of things that doomed her campaign.
She should have picked Mark Kelly as running mate. That may have gained her Arizona and maybe a few other swing states, as his celebrity/astronaut status would have brought in more voters than than America's nerdy dad.
More importantly, her campaign failed to recognize that the election was about how the economy was failing too many people and those people just wanted change. I said this to my family about a month before the election that I thought the Dems needed to craft a message and policies that were populist from the left to counter the right wing populism from Tяump and his cult followers.
