Live this year, I have hugely enjoyed Deerhoof, Lightning Bolt, Medications and Gang Gang Dance and feel sure that if I'd got round to buying their albums they'd be on this list.

For me it's been the year of discovering roots, blues and folk recordings from way back when, and much of my year has been spent listening to Charley Patton, Skip James, Bukka White, Blind Willie McTell, Stanley Brothers, etc.

There will be something staringly obvious that I've missed...

I've finally been able to listen to enough to make sure these are the right records, listed in alphabetical order of the last letter of the first word in the title (and then the second last ...) .
