Bob Dylan or Neil Young?
52HAHAH! That is fabulous.
Also, without arguing who is "better", let me just say that I prefer Young and listen to him alot more.

Bob Dylan or Neil Young?
53that's a fantastic ad.
it reminds me of how Dylan used to tell interviewers stories about how he ran away from home as a kid and joined the circus, or lyrics about working on fishing boats in Delacroix.

Bob Dylan or Neil Young?
55Dylan quite often gets too show offy with his lyrics.
Most of the ones on H61R make no sense unless you've actually been Bob Dylan at some point in your life.

i was going to mention that too, although I think they're probably equally as sucky and equally as redeemable. didn't neil young abandon his roommate rick james when he was going to be deported from canada though? i'm not sure if you can trust neil young
Bob Dylan or Neil Young?
57I like Neil Young, don't get me wrong,
but Bob Dylan wins by a landslide.
There's nothing like a Sunday afternoon, a beer, and Blonde on Blonde or Highway 61 Revisited on the stereo

Bob Dylan or Neil Young?
59I've been listening to Neil Young for almost thirty years, and I like Neil Young as well as just about any rock musician. But saying Neil Young is better than Bob Dylan is like saying that Stevie Ray Vaughan is better than Jimi Hendrix or that Robert Cray is better than Robert Johnson. Sure, Neil is "hipper" these days, as Dylan morphs into a barnstorming bluesman, and Young's current records (Greendale?) are perhaps more "relevant." But who cares? Neil Young will never release a song more cataclysmic in its import, impact, or greatness than "Like a Rolling Stone," and that's just the first example that comes to mind--go ahead, compare it to "Heart of Gold" (or even "Lay Lady Lay").
Also, I suspect Dylan has never played with a drummer as shitty as Ralph Molina. Or voted for Reagan.
To paraphrase Kenneth Rexroth (on D.H. Lawrence): Neil Young is a major poet; Bob Dylan is a minor prophet. Dylan's is the greater tradition.

Bob Dylan or Neil Young?
60funny story:
the first bob dylan song i heard was Lay Lady Lay when i was about 7 or 8. i thought it was the worst thing in the world. i did this wonderful impersonation of dylan singing that all of you Young-sayers would enjoy profusely.
however, i have not heard a full neil young album. i attribute this to my lack of interest in what he does.
since being 8, i have gotten into bringing it all back home, blonde on blonde, and to a lesser extent highway 61 and blood on the tracks.
bob dylan takes the cake.
