That makes sense because both of her performances on SNL last weekend resembled 21st century reworkings of "The Jungle Line" from The Hissing of Summer Lawns. I got no problem with that, I might add. I thought they were cool.

I got Homogenic out of the library, listened to it a couple of times and had trouble getting into it. There were a couple songs that literally hit me like a ton of bricks in the ungodly-amazing category ("Joga", "Bachelorette", "All Is Full of Love", and especially the unbelievable "Hunter") but as often as not, I was kind of left confused. Not hating it, but just kind of "what is she trying to do here?"

I should probably give her another listen before I judge her, but I'm inclined to say Not Crap based on the strength of "Hunter" alone. What a good song.

Now, off to listen to Suicide.
Life...life...I know it's got its ups and downs.

Mayfair wrote:Not Crap here too. Very unique, very singular. I liked the Sugar Cubes as well. What ever hapened to that guy, the guy that did the 'she es tired of her od toys...she vants new toys' bit? Did she just leave those guys in the dust or are they still active somewhere. (I have only heard about the drummer Siggy who seems to still put out records in Iceland from time to time over the years.) Does anyone know or should I google?

Don't make me google!

I saw the Sugarcubes in '90. Fun, fun, really fun show. Are you referring to Einar Orn, the "comedic" talent of the band? Last I heard, he was doing some kind of project with Damon Albarn. I think one of the band, possibly the drummer, I'm not certain, was living in the US at some point. Magga (I think that's her name), the keyboardist, was in a side-project called Risadlen (sp?) that was quite good. Thor Eldon, the guitarist, had a band called unun.

Sometimes her songs have interesting arrangements, and she might occasionally wear a nice dress or pair of shoes, as well as seeming charming enough in interviews, but her repulsively self-obsessed and horribly affected caterwauling just makes me want to punch her in the face. I can't justify this at all-it's a visceral emotional response, like cursing after dropping something heavy on your foot.

The climax of 'Dancer in the Dark'? For fucks sake, just hang the cunt and then we can all go home. Is this over? Is this done now?

Smug, cooky CRAP.

Unless Bjork was the director and screenwriter of this movie, as well as the lead actor, this maybe isn't a valid criticism.

If Bjork is on record as saying that free jazz is spiritually liberating, then I take it back. Hang the cunt.

i think bjork is not crap... from 95-98 "post" was my official shower music. wake up, pop in the cd, sing in the shower for 45 minutes, go to school feeling pretty darn excellent and awake. she kind of lost me re: the more experimental stuff of recent years and with dancer in the dark (did not like it), but that's okay. i still like her even if she is a nutcase.

also i find it kinda bizarre that she (such a little lady) has a 21 year old kid. HUH?
