I admire lead guitar players very much. It doesn't mean I have to be one, though if I could pull off a "I Heard Her Call My Name" I'd probably die a happy man.

Many of my favorite players are people who are mostly rhythm guitarists. Craig Scanlon, Jimmy Nolen, Lou Reed, Freddie Stone, Mick Harvey, John Lennon, Keith Motherfucking Richards - almost all of these wonderful guys were rhythm guitar players first and foremost (Mick Harvey is debatable), and that says a lot.

The 'lead' is a bankrupt form. I haven't played but a few 'leads' in my entire life, prolly recording only two or three.

I call schenanigans on the whole deal. There's no such thing as a 'rhythm' guitarist.

Actually I'll go along with that. They didn't do anything of note after Izzy left.

They might be a monumentally fucking stupid band but come on, Paradise City? Mr Brownstone? Kick ass rhythm guitar.

The bad news is that this point is almost certainly somewhere between Daventry and Market Harborough.

For Englanders maybe. Leeds looks pretty central to me (I don't think there are any folk from the Highlands on here).

Let's do it.

CRAP if we're talking about having both a rhythm and lead player. One guitar is all you need. Besides, it's too much rehearsing to try and work in two guitar parts.

Mind you, we're discussing rhythm guitar, not rhythm kicking pregnant women in the stomach.

I've not heard of this. Can you link to a source or must I google?

Either way...you laugh because it's funny, and it's funny 'cuz it's true.

Yikes. Tell that to Glenn Branca.
