"Pete" is as good a reason to not buy an SG as any I can think of.

Live at Leeds kicked your ass and told you you were wrong.

Whatever else Pete is responsible for musically, this alone excuses him.

It is *the* SG album.
It sounds great, and Pete is at the top of his game. I owe that, somewhat, to the guitar, for the reasons I've listed above. That guitar just encourages risk taking and jumping around. Among other things, I attribute it to how the guitar hangs from the player.
Just watch Pete here, to see what I mean. I love Rickenbackers, but you can't sling one around like he's doing here.

And while Ox and Daltry look increasingly more like tools, as the 70's roll in, here's Pete busting it the fuck out and looking cooler than ever. Part of that is due to how he's flailing this very flail-able guitar.

I've heard he had stacks of them on standby, in case he destroyed them.
Anyway, a bunch of lame ass hippies sit slackjawed and drooling, as stupid hippies do, as the Pete and Moonie bring the *rock* and hand out asses like they were pamphlets.
The world is wearing suede, fringes, and attaching roach clips to their hair, and Pete, in minimalist form, is armed only with an SG and a pair of coveralls.
Why? Because you wear coveralls when you have a job to do.
That job, in this case, is busting it the fuck out.

While I'm no AC/DC fan, I respect Angus. The man could write a riff
(I still think his brother was the secret weapon, however).

Last of all, Carrie Brownstein looks cool as hell sporting one.

Agreed, but wasn't Guy a Rickenbacker man?

Damn right. Big-nosed, over priviliged middle class art student in band that made rock operas who later enjoyed the freedom the internet could bring (allegedly). I totally refuse and also non-purchase.
