How do this and Musical Chairs relate to each other?

there's a relation, but this one is a little obtuse. it's also why I didn't put the standard salutation at the top.

The community recording aspect of the music is very much in line with the chairs m.o., however.

that I don't know at all.

It's why I'm giving myself a year and a half to figure it out. I do have some leads, but those are neither here nor there at this moment. That said, I honestly doubt we'd be able to fund that many tickets to india, but since it's just a goal/conjecture at this point, we shouldn't worry so much and just have some fun.

I'm going to start on the U.S. dates first, since that's where I have the most experience in booking (III and a half years as an agent).

the first date in early October of this year w/the Karaoke Dokies (whose bass player is a woman, Jodi) has been set for R.F.F.'s benfit/bbq. that one will just be me and the K.O.D's. Faiz Zeppelin I, if you will.

so nice! I wrote the titles out at work a bit earlier, and I was just going from the zep songs I have on my ipod.

I would love to try and convince you to let me be Page, which I could pull off reasonably well except for the pants, but I know I wouldn't have enough time to commit, so I won't even try. Also, I'm quite thoroughly confused how you're gonna make this work with your core people living in three different states with plane rides between. How often are you guys gonna practice, like three weekends a year?
"The bastards have landed"

www.myspace.com/thechromerobes - now has a couple songs from the new album

scott, I would be bummed if you didn't take part in some way.

maiolo and ringo live six hours away from each other, which is great, since they're the rhythm section. they can get together when it's convenient. Alex and Patrick and I have all flown for gigs before, and we know how to handle it.

my 'Page' who I talked to today lives in chicago. He's still a tentative, since he's so busy, but I'll win him over. he is my favourite guitarist after all, and is the first person I though of for the part. it's the same way ringo and maiolo got picked first for my kickball team of tone.

any time we plan on playing, we meet in advance and run through the set for a day or so, and hit the road. I own a van, and I can book tours.

and in theory if we add any ensemble players, we have them come do soundcheck and do it on the fly. I mean, that's what I do when I karaoke the songs. it's no different.

re:cording:

I) ringo tracks the drums at his studio

II) sends it to alex who tracks the bass at his studio

III) sends it to _______ who tracks guitars at his studio

IV) sends it to me who tracks the vocals at the gas station

"tone") sends it to _______ for _______ overdubs.

etc.

make sense?

oh, and just so everyone's on the same page (heh), this is not a 'tribute' or a 'cover' band.

It's a Zeppelgänger.

take:
"Sitarway to Heaven"

I own a Sitar. We'll do the intro on that instead.
we'll do the flutes on the chennai (annoying indian flute) that I also have.
I own a bunch of Indian instruments (maybe 10 in total-sitar, 2 harmoniums, gong, kilos and kilos of bells and chimes, chennai, bhool bhool tarang, etc.) and am interested in using them to rework the studio recordings to make them ours, but still have a hot shit core band knocking it out, and rocking correct.

I don't want to change lyrics or make a joke of it, the titles are just for fun/inspiration.

This isn't going to be wack, like Dread Zeppelin, I swear.

you know that ringo has the vistalites, yes?

Kashmir remains the same.

It's a city in India.

I kinda really want to play there, but it's a very dangerous part of the country.

thanks for the heads up on the tuning. I ordered the XXXIII and I/III edition of Led Zeppelin I, and it'll get here on tuesday. Looking forward to reading about the recording of that one.
