You'd think he'd be content to sit around his mansion in Newburyport lighting fires with hundred dollar bills between visits to the mail slot to retrieve massive royalty checks from Ace of Hearts, but he does in fact give private lessons and has for a while. I used to work at Rykodisc, (who re-released MoB catalog) and we had a "free lesson with Roger" promo. I recall that being a pretty popular promotion.

I think it was Angus Jung who once wrote on here that he won one of these, had his 'lesson' with Roger (which may have been in letter form at that time) and it ended with something like "..and don't ever forget: Jimi Hendrix was the baddest motherfucker who ever lived."

I was there in '97 or so, so it sounds about right. Must have been an over-the-phone lesson, which seems so crazy. What savages we all were.

I'd assume so. I used to see his ads for lessons on Craigslist frequently (along with his rock resume of MoB, No Man, etc.)
yes! I have been desperately needing guitar lessons since the Helix came out and didn't have a proper model for my lack of playing ability. Much like FM steve's approach to recording is inviting, while so many studio technicians enforce their own 'vision' on peoples albums, I was looking for someone to take lessons from who wouldn't qualify approaches to guitar playing, and Roger is great that way. Plus I get to learn from a guy who writes, like, songs.

edit: helix needs a comma splicing effect

..sorry. Done Helix-jacking now.
Holy good fuck when saw them on the on off on tour that Marshall was deafening. I know I've mentioned this before, but he came out with the rifle range ear protection for a quick sound check between bands and when he hit that first chord, my friend and I looked at each other, wide eyed, terrified, and moved way the fuck back lol.

I can't even imagine how loud they were when he was playing a Twin. Twins are fuckin' loud.
