Band: Queens of the Stone Age

And will reamin so. Jonny sadly passed away from a long term liver
complaint a few years ago. That said I always preferred Jim & Justins
other band, Hard To Swallow. Still one of my favourite live acts ever.
So good we called em Hard To Follow as playing after them was akin to
showing off your old chap immediately after Ron Jeremy had shown his.
Queens Of T... yawn
Boring and over rated.

53I'm not sure why Iron Monkey got mentioned, but I saw Queens of the Stone Age at the London Garage with Iron Monkey years ago. Didn't like either of them but maybe I was in a bad mood.
Never been too fussed about QOTSA. I don't mind listening to them if someone plays them, but I've never been motivated to get any*. I wouldn't say they were crap though. So I won't.
* Ooh, correction. I've got the No-One Knows single. I love that song. And I really like The Sky is Falling off Songs For The Deaf.

54I'd forgotten that guy from Iron Monkey passed. I remember reading about it now. That's a shame.
Never got the chance to see Hard To Swallow, sadly, but I know them by reputation.

55One of the better bands around nowadays. I'd also take the opinion that they are better now that they've lost that screeching jackass on bass.

56The last record was kinda boring, but they still are rather awesome. Great live, too... and bowel-meltingly loud.

57i was a huge fan of kyuss when i was much younger, so obviously around the debut album of qotsa i was running around telling all my other silly friends how great they were. 'rated r' is a great pop album. one of the best i can think of actually.
around 'songs for the deaf' i started to get bored of them and then suddenly everyone knew who they were so i stopped bothering. one of those bands that exemplifies my bizarre habit of switching off of bands as soon as they make head-way in the mainstream. i suppose it is a case of over-exposure.
so NOT CRAP, with a waffle simply because i don't listen to them anymore.

58I forgot about this band then someone sent me a fucking badass cover of ZZ Top's "Precious and Grace." Thank you, friend!
Hey! This is a very good band! Songs for the Deaf has many excellent moments and I like what I've heard of R. "No One Knows" is the best radio-song I've heard in years. Some pretty subtle, badass guitaring there.
The video for "Go With the Flow" is wonderfully sleazy too.

59not crap but their cds have sooooo much compression and some digital clipping as well, much like the recent rick rubin releases.

60In this new millenium, (SP?), QUOTSA has been an unanticipated gem. Far outshining any other 21st century band so far. NOT CRAP.
