I dunno, do you like indie rock?

The phrase? Geesus no.

What album should I start on?

Just do them the way they did them. Start with Icky Mettle. Then the ripping e.p. Vs the Greatest of All Time. Then do Vee Vee. If you're still digging it, look on the backs of the records to see what year they go in. I can't remember right now. I think it's All the Nation's Airports. The last one was White Trash Heroes, right? What am I missing? Fuck it. Get the Loaf.

Get vs. the Greatest of all Time ep first. It's five songs; they're all good - some of their best. Great recording. They started to get more creative. Icky Mettle is very good, but it may sound generic until you can appreciate what they were doing. Vee Vee is their most "accesible." Speed of Cattle is a b-sides/singles collection that has some outstanding songs. All the Nations Airports is their masterpiece. White Trash Heroes and Seconds Before the Accident are enjoyable only for serious fans. There was a rare live ep in there somewhere that I've never heard.

The live EP is Vitus Tinnitus, which I'm pretty sure is on rapidshare somewhere in some thread around here. If it isn't, I'm pretty sure I could make it so.

The live version of "Audiowhore" alone is worth the price of admission.

I totally own this on vinyl. Thank you, college radio days!

I'm pretty sure that's the only format you could possibly own it on. I too have it, but I actually paid for it. Didn't even have a turntable.

White Trash Heroes is a fantastic album, seriously contending only with All The Nations Airports for the title of best official Archers album; and that's saying something. It may not be a good introduction to the Archers (for that I'd recommend Icky Mettle or Vee Vee), but don't look at White Trash Heroes as a miserable end-of-the-line album by this great band, because that is surely not the case.

For every occurrence of "worst" in this thread, referring to White Trash Heroes, I find it's more accurate just to replace the word mentally with "different." It is their "different" album. But like Heliotropic and many others have said, it is not at all a bad album.

"Shapes" by Polvo suffers this unfair labelling as well. Neither album is bad at all.

I STILL do not know how to vote. Damn this poll.

My brother claims he was at the show when Vitus Tinnitus was recorded, that it was in Boston, and that they said the show was being recorded. So my brother kept screaming for them to play "What Did You Expect?" in hopes that he would one day hear himself on said recording. He's kind of a dope.

I've never heard this record. Could this story be true? Can you hear some stoned kid yelling "What did you fucking exp-eeect!!" over and over?

No, it isn't. Don't get me wrong, Archers are one of my all-time favorite bands but White Trash Heroes is not very good. It has good songs and some horrible songs. Like any great band, usually they sounded like they all knew exactly what they were doing together. On some songs on this album they sound lost. I give them props for going in new directions, but they (maybe just E. Bachmann) had outgrown the band.
