Every time I hear Cat Power I think of the local indie hipsters that wear female pants and "ironic" t-shirts and cringe. This is the indelible image that I visualize whenever a conversation about music veers towards bands like Belle and Sebastian, Cat Power, Animal Collective, etc.

As for the music: it really didn't strike me as anything special. It's average college radio nonsense at best.

I predict that because of statements like this, you will never see female genitalia in person.

After reading Matthew's thread I was going to respond with:
Sexism makes you sterile.

but, on re reading, I though maybe he was saying that's just what happens to feminine rockers, nothing to do with what he wants to happen or thinks is right... just sort of pointing out an unfair phenomenon... so I've given him the benefit of the doubt...
I hope he's wrong though.

Having been heretofore heedless of her stuff, I was surprised by how tame a track from "The Greatest" was, which I heard involuntarily. It didn't sound like it fit the on-stage reputation that precedes her.

I've always been intrigued by the fact that Bill Callahan was involved with her, not to be gossipy.

And, well, I grudgingly have to give her at least a point for that shot of her pubes which accompanied the New Yorker profile.

Not to defeat the purpose of the thread, but I beg off from voting.

It's lamentable that someone of your age ought to resort to that sort of humor, nothing.

I agree.

I mean, "female genitalia?" What's that about? Try "twat" or maybe "gooey hoo-ha fun-hole."
