Buy a fckn Dummy yall. I sold two real Memory Men after I got mine and so was able to compare it to a choice 90s reissue that I had to go through a lot of MMs of different eras to get to. The Memory Man I sold had belonged to a friend, and none of the ones I could find ever compared until he finally sold me his. Then I got The Balls.

Now I don’t have to worry about the fucker dying on me, which is a constant concern with EHX stuff. I’ve never had pedals from any other manufacturer fail at the same rate.

benadrian wrote: This is kinda pedestrian, but the Fender Blues Jr has the Fat switch. This brings in a cathode bypass cap on a tube stage to increase the gain (and probably low frequency) of that stage. This is not an uncommon gain boost mod, and I've seen them in many amps. Only issue is that it is difficult to make it adjustable via potentiometer.
Ah. That does make sense. I had forgotten bout the blues jr and blues deluxe series of amps.

Oh, so that's what they were up to? You know I completely forget that mesa boogie amps exist.

Enough of me derailing the all the hot Balls action...

Balls VIP-15. This is amp #2 of 2 for the backline at Main Drag Music here in North Brooklyn. This is 15 watts with 2 x EL84s in cathode bias and a 12" greenback. The circuit is (I think?) my favorite rock guitar sound. Basically, what if both channels on an AC30 went through the "top-boost" circuitry? Well it starts to look a lot like a plexi front end feeding a Vox-y backend and its awesome. Jumpered channels so you can blend the normal and bright volumes and a master volume for good measure.

This is giving me some ideas. Love the work and the perpetual, incremental tweaks! Excellent work as always, Tony.

This thing is a ton of fun. The range seems to be "this is a gnarly fuzz" to "what the fuck is this thing doing" in a really good way.

Do I need to DM to get on the wait for the reverb?
