I've been living in my new house for five weeks now, and I still don't have the internet or a tv aerial. Until yesterday I had a phone but now that's been cut off too (long boring story involving massive cock up from service provider).

The football season starts on Saturday and I don't have a fucking TV aerial.

My landlord keeps promising to get it sorted, but you know how these fucking shysters are...

FOOTBALL SEASON STARTS ON SATURDAY. FOUR DAYS TO GET MY TV WORKING, YOU FUCK.

Delighted to see you in the league, DRC and Dudley!

An article in The Guardian today about the ridiculous 'MyFootballClub' website, that is aiming to get people to collectively subscribe to owning a football club for £35 a season, and then treat it like a game of Football Manager.

I can't add much to the article, other than the fearful observation that Leeds United are consistently one of the rumoured 'interested clubs'.

It's been bad enough being run by Ridsdale, Krasner and Bates without - *wags finger* - you lot sticking your oars in an' all.

My old man saw the Wigan game (it ended 2-1) and he has been very optimistic since then. He seems to think all of the players Wise has brought in are going to be excellent at this level. Specifically he thinks Curtis Weston will be decent if he plays. Prutton and Constantine are good signings too.

I expect Lewis to leave (maybe heading to Stoke?) and I hope that Thomson will sign before long. Looking at the current team, I think we will fare pretty well. We basically have to score 70 points to stay out of the relegation battle with our 15 point deficit. I think looking at our current squad, that is doable.

My mental image of today's Football League meeting is of the club chairman sitting in a circle around Ken Bates, and each one giving him the thumbs-down in turn, like Roman emperors. In times past I would have been delighted to see Bates get such an uncompromising kicking, but today I'm not so cheered.

Says Lord Mawhinney: "Leeds are starting the new season in League One as a valued member of the League's football family but with a penalty of 15 points."

That'd be a devalued member of the League's football family, then.

The idea of "the League's football family" makes me ill. I don't want them moving in next door to me. I don't want to be invited round to their house, and get caught in the crossfire when it all kicks off after one Aftershock too many.

BBC Sport wrote:
Fifa man opposes England 2018 bid

Fifa vice-president Jack Warner said he will battle to stop England hosting the 2018 World Cup.

His decision will be a blow to the Football Association, who were likely to plan a bid on the back of any change to the current selection procedures.

"If the World Cup were to go to Europe, I'm quite sure, with the English luck as it is, they won't get it," Warner told BBC World Service.

"There are moves to give it to England. I must fight that."

Warner, a member of the world football body's executive committee since 1983, added: "It will be Italy, Spain, or even France who will get the World Cup if it goes to Europe.

"Nobody in Europe likes England. England invented the sport but has never made any impact on world football."

Cripes. Tell it how you see it, Jack.

Ok, the English may have an inflated sense of self-worth when it comes to football. But Jesus! We've got the resources, the stadia, the interest, and by then we won't have hosted the world cup in 52 years! What does this man want? Another USA94? Fuck that.

Fuck you, Jack Warner!

Judging by this, I'm quite pleased with Dennis Wise's potential tactics for this season. Leeds, quite simply, aren't going to give a fuck:

Leeds manager Dennis Wise has continued the rebuilding of his squad by signing Norwich midfielder Andy Hughes for an undisclosed fee.On the day that United saw their appeal against their 15-point deduction rejected, Wise swooped to sign the 29-year-old on a two-year deal.

Wise said: "You know the pleasing thing about it? I've just signed Andrew Hughes from Norwich.

"I told him we were minus 15 points because we lost the appeal and he said 'no problem gaffer we'll just brush ourselves down and let's get on with it'.

"That's someone who wants to join this club. He doesn't care. He wants to give it a real go.

"Every other player I've got here, Alan Thompson, Tore Andre Flo, Leon Constantine, David Prutton, all the ones I've recently spoken to, have said we'll have a go with you and that's the type I want."

Just as startling is that I'm sure this Andy Hughes is actually pretty good. Pretty good plus doesn't give a fuck equals LEEDS LEEDS LEEDS LEEDS LEEDS
