So far Boston's been hella warm and it's been great. The most I've needed is my suit coat (e.g. when going to interviews), and only in the morning. But people here are bundled up like it's -40.
Shit done changed. That used to be light jacket weather.
-40
is light jacket weather, so maybe my perception of "bundled up like it's -40" is a bit skewed.
More back to where weather originally came up... Europeans often act like invading Russia in winter is impossible because of Napoleon and Hitler. Have you actually looked at Russia's climate? With the exception of the Siberian taiga (which is not where any of those forces invaded), it's practically a summer vacation. Send a bunch of Minnesotans and North Dakotans and Manitobans in and we'll be barbecuing in our shorts after the battle is won.
One of my favourite lines in GoldenEye is an exchange between the excellent Robbie Coltrane's Valentin Zhukovski and 007. "My knee... aches... (Shatner pause) whenever it is cold. Do you have any idea how long winter is up here?
Tell him, Dmitri!" "Well, it depends..." "
Shut up, Dmitri!" I looked up St. Petersburg's climate. There is not a single place in Minnesota that is warmer in winter. They're not even in the same climate zone.

Within a day it can change + or - 30 degrees though, like this morning. No one knows how to dress so they just go worst-case.
Pff it was like 20-something. Same clothing required as 70.

It's tragically funny in a 'holy shit we live in a farce' way.
Holy shit is it clear he's a small child, and she looks like a baby-sitter who has gotten that small child to stop crying.

Lovely for him
Depending upon how the next couple of years play out, a US Air Force veteran might not find Canada (or any other currently-allied country) very hospitable. But, an Airman can dream.
Maybe. Probably. My original post was sort of an answer to what seemed like a question of how military brass and low brass are viewing the administration. Privately, as one may expect, it's not at all a favorable take by the significant majority. And many are preparing for early retirements and leaving a country they had originally enlisted to serve out of a sense of absolute betrayal not just by the current administration and cronies, but the people who voted them in in the first place. Regardless of how one feels about militarism, there
are some good people there. Different lives and directions; still good.
If he wants to get his star he has to play politics. That’s true for any administration. They know that.
The stakes are higher now. You saw how hegseth threw admiral Bradley & admiral franchetti under the bus. At some point his morals will have to kick in and he’ll retire.
I’ll be curious what he will do if he makes general now.

I just think it's kind of tragic how much she's sucked up to him- really debased herself, and he's given her absolutely nothing for it. People should take notes.

Premier Miller needs to be deposed immediately. Unelected cosplay dictator. He's definitely the one whispering the most Greenland shit into that demented fool's Bionic Ear.

Best way to get rid of Miller is for someone to ask Trump, during a press conference, to “respond to the rumors that Stephen Miller is really in charge.”

This last letter is just otherworldly. We are living in the best/worst timeline. This thing needs a movie when all is set and done, and the main protagonists are dead/in jail.
I am not sure if it will be a thriller or a comedy. Are there any good thriller comedies or that mashup is not possible!?

A poll recently showed that 85% of the US opposes taking Greenland by force and 70% opposes buying it. It’s a ridiculously unpopular goal.
But the elected GOP already fell in line.
