Well, in tonight's game I saw an Avery stick to Crosby's face that went uncalled (perhaps incidental, but the master agitators know how to keep it barely clean and/or make it look like an accident; either way Avery would've gotten two if the zebras did indeed have a pro-PIT bias), and a NYR goal via high stick.

Bring 'em on.

Man, even with a three-goal handicap.

I don't hate on Jags (he's where the 68 in my handle, dating back to the 90s, comes from), but what is with the douche strip on his chin? He think he's Fred Durst? Almost makes me miss his mullet.

It's going to be an interesting couple weeks in the Staal household.

Wrong. If the Caps lose that last game, they finish with 92 points, tied with Carolina but Carolina wins the division with 43 wins to Washington's 42. 8th-place Boston got in with 94, so the Caps would be outside looking in at 9th.

Well, in a word: no. As I look at the standings page on NHL.com, the Caps, Sens, and Bruins ALL HAVE 94 POINTS. The current 9th place team, the Hurricanes, had 92. Therefore, if we were to seed the teams purely by record, the Caps would be 8th, not 9th.
What are the queers doing to the soil?

post while you are drunk thread:

do you guys think the flyers got robbed last night?

Don't get me wrong, crosby is a great player, but the hype drives me crazy. there's so many equally talented players in the league that don't have the hype.

yeah, the lindros trade was a little uneven, but the real reason why colorado won those cups was patrick roy. no patrick roy, no cups.

re: pitt bias, I think the league should actually be smart and have a pro large market bias. I think with all the conspiracies in my head, it pretty much evens out.

I still think NYR is the better overall team. the question is whether gomez will play out of his mind like he did vs. NJD.

Is laraque even in the lineup?

You're getting very worked up, I can see that. But you're really very confused. My original statement was defending the east against someone who stated that the only reason the Caps got in was because they won their division. To me, that implies that their point total put them lower than 8th, but that they bumped somebody out because they won their weak division. My point was that they had the 8th best point total at the end of the season, so nobody got bumped out because of them. However, they did move from 8th to 3rd by virtue of winning their division.
Now, it is true that had they lost and Carolina on the last day of the season the Caps would have 92 and the Canes 94 and the Caps would be out. But then we would be having the same conversation about the Canes.
We are discussing two different sets of hypotheticals. You are talking about the, "What if the Caps lost their Division to the Canes," hypothetical. I'm talking about the, "What if we seeded solely based on points" hypothetical. OK? We cool? Still mad?

We was always cool, not worked up, not mad....

For what it's worth, I would not oppose a "top 8 in points" playoff scheme and not seeding the division winners in the top 3. But I accept it the current scheme, which I think works better in the NFL since they have fewer playoff spots.

Either one is preferable to the pre-realignment scheme of the top 4 in each division advancing, allowing a sub-.500 team to get in the playoffs and in the case of the '91 North Stars advancing to the Finals.

I still haven't recovered from my Caps losing gm 7 in OT last tuesday. Team showed so much heart, but its ok they're gonna be one of the top 3 teams in the East next year, as long as they can resign Huet.

and to the guy who said the Flyers aren't dirty/cheap.. c'mon man.

Hartnell- cheap piece of trash

Upshall- cheap diving piece of trash

Downie- just a garbage player all around

Briere- biggest pussy in the league

I sincerely hope the Habs sweep 'em.
