Tell me, what happens when they grow up and leave the smothering nest and someone fucks with them? What do they do? Curl up in a ball in the middle of the street? Let the person have their way with them, then run and tell?

What kind of person will come out of a childhood like that? This is not a nice, cozy world we live in. If you step into the wrong situation you are likely to be fucked pretty hard. To raise a child away from any sort of hardship whatsoever at all costs, it's not doing the kid a service. That kid will be eaten alive.

To perpetuate this whole 'Oh dear lord they are yelling and punching this poor helpless girl, how brutal! Send them to prison for life!' Is not doing anyone any good. Kids see this and all they think is 'well, I will never have to take personal responsibility for any trouble I ever get into, I will just do whatever and I can always go and tell if I get into trouble'
Why isn't anyone saying 'what was this girl thinking hanging out with these wacked out trashy ass chicks to begin with?' and they say they beat her ass because she was talking shit about them. Maybe she learns it's not such a good idea to talk shit about a bunch of wacked out violent ass white trash chicks you go to school with.
Maybe next time be a little more careful about the situations you put yourself into and the people you find yourself around. Those are just about the most important skills I can imagine a human could have.

I thought you were opposed to the legal system getting involved. If they face charges, then aren't they learning the consequences of their wrong decisions? If you let them get off scot-free for their wrong decision to beat that girl up, then aren't you coddling them?
