Very sorry to hear, and excellent looking and sounding friend. Kudos for you taking in a "difficult" rescue and putting in the work. There are so many good dogs out there that just need a little extra effort to become our best pals.

Thanks Owen and Penningtron for the kind thoughts.

I've think of pets, and especially the loss of one, as defining these eras of our lives, and I've spent a lot of time thinking of the last 12 years and what's all happened and what's changed. I wasn't really ready to reflect on all that.

Ah, sorry to hear of that twelvepoint. Charlie seems like he was a great dog. Cute creature!

The idea of a contextualizing events through the prism of a dog's life is very relatable. A lot can happen in that time. I don't doubt reflecting on it is poignant.
