Maybe they can grab Zak Starkey before he ends up back in the Who again:

83You win. Close the thread.

84I just keep thinking, somewhere out there John Wurster and Matt Cameron have free time. Someone needs to start a really good, biggish rock band there are god-tier drummers just hanging around.
I also keep thinking that Dave Grohl is clearly going through something. I keep picturing him rehearsing or playing some big ass stadium show with Josh Freese just nailing it and sitting around with some veteran Foos smoking a cigarette and saying, "No, no. It's still not right. We're still not getting it. I really still think it might be the drummer." And the guys are nervously eyeing each other afraid to speak all like, "I don't know man he was pretty amazing tonight. But if you don't think this is working....."
I think he's trying to recapture something he's missing and keeps looking on the drum stool when it's really somewhere else.
This has been my personal armchair psychoanalysis of Mr. David Grohl.

85In an ideal world I'd never heard/read of Grohl or the Foos ever again.

86Jesus dude, having one side piece after 30 plus years of being a rock star is hardly vehicular homicide. People are way too up their own asses about all that.andyman wrote: Sat Aug 23, 2025 7:39 amThis is funny and perhaps apt.losthighway wrote: Fri Aug 22, 2025 8:36 pm I just keep thinking, somewhere out there John Wurster and Matt Cameron have free time. I think his womanising has done irreversible damage to the brand; FF were a mid band that built its rep then coasted on Grohl's reputation as "really nice", fun, and drummer of Nirvana. He's no longer nice, so the music has to do the heavy lifting...
It'd be like if someone in RHCP killed someone with their car.
Also, Anthony Keidis is basically a pedophile and that hasn't hurt his band at all as far as I can tell.
Re: Will Foo Fighters go on, and if so, how?
87Oh ok, I thought you were serious. I still don't think that the whole situation moved the needle much in how people see the band as a whole.andyman wrote: Sun Aug 24, 2025 4:46 amAh, that was a ham-fisted attempt at dark humour while referencing how Josh Klinghoffer killed someone with his car last year (after he left RHCP).ChudFusk wrote: Sat Aug 23, 2025 9:01 pm Jesus dude, having one side piece after 30 plus years of being a rock star is hardly vehicular homicide. Re: Grohl, I just meant that he's no longer rock's Mr. Rogers.
Re: Will Foo Fighters go on, and if so, how?
88It probably did more to his head than any fans.
Dave has played bills with Black Flag, Soul Side, Jawbox, Jawbreaker, Fugazi, Screaming Trees, Mudhoney, Mike Watt, Soundgarden..... he knows what awesome shit is, he's seen tons of it. He's also a very talented dude. I think that even though he gets to play for thousands of screaming people, even though he puts a ton of work into his art and takes risks, he hasn't done anything in many years that would get much love from people like us. That tiny minority wouldn't even matter except at his roots he's one of us.

Re: Will Foo Fighters go on, and if so, how?
89They could (and should) rename the band 'Out of Court Settlement' and RHCP fans would be unperturbed.
