Re: Bought some land / Building the Compound (in Wisconsin)

Final post for a bit because holy shit I need to chill out and get back on track with all the other things. This is where I live now. It’s finished. I use that term loosely as there’s still a lot to be done. Wood stove in April. Staining and landscaping in spring. That said, it has all the things, is comfy, and I’ve slept here a few nights. What an absolutely insane undertaking. I’m very burnt out, but I’ve learned so much and will use that knowledge on the larger build slated for May. It’ll all be a largely ongoing process until Fall 2022, but for now I can finally rest a bit and play catch up. Going back to bed for a week. Welcome to the family, little dude. You can come visit any time.

I am much less tired now.

But then, classically, just as I started to feel refreshed, poof. Three days without power. Spring is here in the Northwoods! A tree fell on a neighbors house :( - power company saying Saturday morning at worst. Icy crunchy trees. Quite warm in the bed and I got some cute candles and surprisingly powerful battery lamps, so I’m good. If only my wood stove was being delivered a few weeks earlier. ha! - so it goes. Putting my order in for a whole home generator to ensure the larger house will always be a safe boi.

The truth is, we’re just getting started out here. That’s insane, and summer is going to be wild. Lots of ideas cooking, aside from what’s already in motion. Building permits approved. LET'S GO.

Pretty busy on the ol' lakefront gearing up for this larger build + garage. Road limits aren't coming off in the next week, which is nuts. Everybody is pretty pissed. This sort of works out in my favor because my windows won't be in until July. Since the little guy is mostly done and livable, I am fine with this.

Slowly chopping down little bits of trees on the lake's end as to not over-do it. Looking good. Moved to a new fire pit and deciding placement. It's still fairly cold out. Boats and a dock incoming.

Almost time. I'll be busting out a drone I bought and my nicer camera soon.

Cheers to (eventual) spring / summer.
