Just listened to Vegetable Man for the first time in years. Wow! It sounds almost nothing like Pink Floyd - anticipates angular post-punk like if Wire and maybe PiL took lots of lsd. Wish there was more like this.

I totally see your point and it makes me want to revisit the whole Syd period including his solo stuff. I still don't think I'm going to be much of a fan of the "improvisational psychedelic" stuff but I can certainly appreciate "Vegetable Man".

To be fair to the dadrock configuration, they were very reverential, and continued to assert Syd was a genius well after they had to, and they achieved success on their own merits.
