this is what steve said in a recent (late july) interview

[quote]So has Shellac recorded anything lately? What’s going on with that?

Steve: Yeah, we just finished. Well we’re not completely finished. But we are near as damn it to finished on another record/album.

Me: So how many songs?

Steve: At the moment, ten. It might be nine, it might be eight, it might be ten.

Me: It’s funny that it’s getting worked out that way. When did you guys announce that? Because people were saying 2006 for the new one a few years ago. I don’t even know if you did announce it, but that is what everyone is saying.

Steve: Well, people just kept asking. I have to admit; the official release date of a record has never meant anything to me. As a band member or as a fan. I never really cared when a record comes out. I would much rather go to a record store and get a great record than one that is “freshâ€

I figured it would just be a" whenever its done" thing, just like 1000 hurts was. Unless this time they decide to got on a morning talk show junket and hit up Oprah and all those shows. Wow imagine that! hahaha .I remember hearing a bunch about it about a week before its release and that was it, not a peep up until that point. Well I look forward to it thats for sure!

Wait, let me get this straight--you're saying that E.T.A. is the new Shellac? This seems doubtful, but it does open up the interesting question of "Who is the new Shellac?" Anyone have any suggestions?
