The other day i was playing with a guitarist, friend of mine, guitarist in one of the best well-known bands here (in uruguay, heh), he´s a brilliant guitarist, very simple and personal, and we talked about bands and stuff and he said "well, i dont listen much to music at all.. a few discs, but i mostly play the guitar a lot.."
no, he´s not a wanky virtuoso, mostly of a rocker with some elements from eastern-european music. but i find that interesting. are there any other musicians that you know or heard that they dont listen to much music at all? i heard also that for example blixa from nick cave doesnt listen to music at all. anyone else?

I don't listen to much music anymore.
And I'm a musician.
But I am not very good.
So nevermind.

According to "The Last Gang in Town" the story of The Clash, Joe Strummer had one Chuck Berry record that he listened to exclusively before he joined the Clash. Or something like that. Downbeat asks the question, "What music do you listen to?" of jazz musicians in about two or three polls per year, and invariably somebody will say something like, "I only listen to tapes of my guru breathing before he makes love," so apparently it's not that uncommon among jazz musicians.
Also, I'd venture to guess that about half of the musicians in bands playing at clubs in LA only have one "White Stripes" album that they listen to...
