i went to one EARS meeting. it was three or four years ago at electrical audio. one of my instructors at columbia brought us. they did a tape shootout in studio A. an engineer named danny leake (sp?) ran the session. tracked a band live to identical studers and then everyone did a bunch of A/B listening. later on bill skibbe gave a tour of the building. it was interesting walking around and thinking about albums i know that were recorded in those rooms.

also there was beer and food...all in all a nice evening. as i understand it, they do something like this once a month at a different studio.

EARS meets Tuesday, February 24th, 7:30pm at:
Rax Trax Recording, 3128 N. Greenview, Chicago 773-871-6566
We address the recent barrage of equipment thefts suffered by 5 separate
EARS comrades from here to Vegas, most of whom will be in attendance! Be
sure to check your member emails and/or your EARS website for gear list and
details on these bastardly, dastardly deeds! We’ll share experiences,
various methods of prevention & retrieval. Arrrgh - it’s time for EARS cats
to come together and look out for each other as we’ve recently done and will
continue so bring your favorite weapon and goon referrals – heh, heh! We’ll
follow with a tour of EARS buddy Rick Barnes’ newly upgraded SSL/Euphonix 2
room facility. Hit the cool and likewise renovated www.raxtrax.com site for
directions to this Lakeview location near the Lincoln, Belmont, Ashland
intersection
Appreciation File: Thanks to ’04 Grammy nominated engineers Bill Maylone &
our host, Chris Willis for the detailed, informative discussion and look at
the recording facility. Credos to Brian Young for the exclusive behind [&
above!] the scenes as well.

after much internal debate I opted out...
mostly due to the fact that I had very little sleep the nights before...
I've allready been through the pain of being ripped off and didn't feel like bonding with anyone over the issue while being on the verge of getting sick...
and pro-tools facilties are of very little interest to me...
perhaps next month
