any thoughts of recording consoles in this range?
I got my eyes on an A&H GL2200, which I have heard is not as nice as the 2400, but still nice. Are these really bad for recording, and should really only be used for monitoring and FOH?

any good stories/ideas appreciated...

I got a Soundcraft 800B 16x8x2 console in perfect working order (except one of the wires in the multi-conductor power cable needed to be re-soldered) for half of your price range. I would say that it's a great console.

eBay, early/mid 2004. And fortunately the drive to pick it up was only about 20 hours round trip, so I didn't have to deal with shipping it.
