Zidane vs Materazzi

Crap, the more I think about that game the only thing good to have come out of it was Italy winning.

i understand that zidane being in for the penalty shoot out wouldn't have tossed trezeguet out, but i have to believe that the morale may have been a little higher, and play would have been a little smoother, had he not come out of nowhere and headbutted that dude in the heart, even if it was the best most spotaneous laugh i've had all week. i mean come on dude. come ON!!!! didn't he stomp on some saudi's back in '98 too though? i feel like i heard this.

i called it though. two weeks ago i said he looked like a severe bastard and my boyfriend was like "no, i heard he was actually very nice." and i was like, "okaay... maybe i got it wrong." never!!! i am so right!!! that guy is a bastard!!!

anyway, not crap, waffle high.

I'm still so utterly stunned and baffled by the whole event that I can't determined whether or not it was crap.

I cannot think another way of retiring (well, yeah, being Champions of the World ) but still a incredible way to say goodbye. He knew that after the headbutt he was out.

Well, he is a good guy. He's always played a good game and has behaved well.

The headbutt is CRAP though. Total skinhead thug shit, ca. 1980.

We had to run it back to make sure it wasn't some sort of jock-ish tag up.

I heard a cop/soccer fan on NPR sum it up. He said that every day he goes to work and gets called all sorts of stuff. Just cruel, awful stuff and he has to shake it off and resist clocking the person. It's part of the job. Same with sports. No excuse.

i like a bit of footy - though not too much - and I have always thought Zidane one of the finest players I have ever seen.
I think he disgraced himself with this moment of madness at precisely the wrong time in a very long career but I would dearly love to know what that other fella said to him.

It wouldn't make a difference to me saying Crap here, as it painfully was, but it might make things clearer.

I refuse to vote. The man was a genius in an arena that I can't even comprehend being slightly good at. Something got him yesterday; it's not for me to judge what, it's beyond me. The man is brilliant. To judge from a position of ignorance is crap.

He's brilliant, yes, but it's still a pretty fucking stupid thing to do, especially considering that the other fellow was probably hoping he'd do just that.
