I'm not going to spill my life out on this board, but I'm going through some rough times at the moment and pretty, emotional music is a great way to wallow...
Anyhoo, recommend me some music as beautiful and emotional as, for example, Spiderland by Slint, Glass Museum by Tortoise etc.
Thanks in advance.

You are bright man on the EA board. So I'm sure you've already considered Low, Nina Nastasia, Bedhead, Dirty 3, etc.
You have, right?
Also, I know you are very European, but if you haven't discovered country music yet, now is the time. Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, the Louvin Brothers, etc. This music was made for times like this.
Many months ago, B.E. Ralph mentioned a woman named Sammi Smith, and I agree with him that her recordings are amazing.
Hope things start looking up for you, sir.

I've been playing Scott Walker's Tilt to death recently. I picked up on it after reading about it on this board. It is really strange and dark and pretty music. I love it. Maybe you do too.

The first (only?) Aerial M album is beautiful music.
If you like Nick Cave and haven't heard the b-sides and rarities album then there's some hidden gems there. Little Empty Boat, Opium Tea, etc
Also, for fun, search for Alma Cogan "Never do a tango with an eskimo". Never fails to make me smile.

Hugo Largo's 'Mettle'.
Mary Margaret O'Hara's 'Miss America' (usually my preferred fetal position listening).
American Music Club's 'Engine' or Mercury'.
*I hope things start working out for you soon, mister.

Can you stomach reggae?
In this situation, I would be listening to nothing but Jamaican music.
I would get the first two Dynamite compilations on Soul Jazz--100% Dynamite and 200% Dynamite. I would play them until I was sick of them, and then I would play them some more.

I'm sure I just saw a crap/not crap on Souled American. In fact, I read it, so I'm positive. Anywhoo, check out Souled American if you've not already, Grammy.
