"All studio areas are connected with mic, instrument and loudspeaker tie lines allowing musicians, amplifiers and cabinets to be loacated independant of each other anywhere in the studio."
and
"Tie lines and a remote mic panel allow studio A to use Studio B's live room while maintaining full Studio A facilities."
and.
"In addition to the fixed equipment, Studio A can accommodate up to 48 lines of additional outboard through tie panels which connect to the patch bay."
oh do tell...
thank you..
Explain those Mic-Patch Panels to me please..
2ok...i guess i'll clarify..
just exactly how does you patching system function from studio to studio...from room to room..
i guess this is a silly question...
i'm bracing myself for a silly answer...

All the studios/rooms are interconnected. There are tie lines that run from the Studio A control room to the Studio B tracking rooms, and visa versa. So if you are tracking in Studio A but want to record drums in the live room of studio B, there are patchpoints in the Studio A control room to the Studio B Live room. They just have a versatile setup so that you can record sounds from any room in the building, in either of the two control rooms, as long as those rooms are not being used already.
does that make more sense?

5yes..
indeed i was going to delete this post after i did some more searches..
but then there was thebookofkevin's post...
i...i can't delete something like that..
i'm in the middle of a my new studios design..it's going to be quite small with one control room so i'm not really sure i should concern myself with two many tie lines..
now what about external tie lines for incoming engineers?
and thoughts?

6having a very flexible patchbay layout is more valuable (imo) than fancy preamps and mics. You should be able to patch into everything anything without a hassle. Having a patch panel for external gear is a very good idea and will come in handy. Be sure to have male and female XLRs on it, as well as 1/4" trs. Don't forget mults.
