as we all know the show has hit the skids, but watching through the dvds reminded me of how many great little "throw away" moments there are in the shows glory years. those little moments that always crack you up.

one of my favorites is in the Itchy and Scratchy Land episode. The kids ask Marge if they can please go to I&SL for vacation and Marge says, "no, I already have our vacation picked out. we are going to the bird sanctuary." the kids react by having this look:



cracks me up every time.

but i always think of Lisa when she got her German verb wheel in the post

or pretty much anything with Moe* or Ralph Wiggum

*especially attached to the lie detector in Who shot Mr Burns ptII

Pretty much anytime Troy McClure is on I laugh out loud, namely at the titles of past features he's been in.

There's a lot of great, subtle and/or slow-paced comedy in the second season that seemed to start fading shorty after. I miss it.

The Simpsons took a skid for a couple of years, but they seem to be back in the upswing.
