Definitely not crap.
I got dragged to this movie by my fiance and had to be dragged back out. One of the better flicks I've seen in recent memory and solidly among my Top 7 of all-time.
There's just something so refreshing about seeing a well-written, well-acted, beautifully shot movie with actors who are relative unknowns. It lends more credibility to the movie as a whole, I think.
Some may be quick to place this in the "chick flick" category, but I can't.
Best child acting I've seen too.
Blah, blah... Rent it.

interesting... based on the description you just gave, if i didn't know what movie you were talking about, i woulda definitely guessed Whale Rider. which i guess would suggest it's probably worth checking out...

would you say it's better than Now And Then? i guess that film's got way too many big-name players involved to even be compared though.

Fucking superb, and definitely got some of the best child actors I've seen in a while.

Like an idiot, I passed up the opportunity to see this movie before general release at a screening in Boston hosted by Jim Sheridan. D'oh!

The previews make it seem kinda bland but I've heard nothing but good things about it- Djimon Hounsou- not crap!

Truly Eddie Murphy's shining moment!
