Refering to your girlfriend/wife/pet snake as "my lady", "the lady" etc.

My last girlfriend always referred to me as her "gentleman," which took root early in our relationship when we weren't using boyfriend/girlfriend yet, and she needed something to call me. Thusly, once we started using the bf/gf tags, she also became my "special lady," as in "she's not my special lady, she's my goddamn ladyfriend!"

I was not trying to help her conceive, however.

I dunno...i'm dating someone now and we're not fully committed yet, so she's not my girlfriend and i'm not her boyfriend yet. So what do i call her? My ladyfriend? My girl? "The girl i'm seeing" is too cumbersome, as is "the girl i'm fucking," because that's sorta crass.

So guess what? "The Lady" is NOT CRAP, because that's what she is.

I'm a girl and it doesn't bother me, but i understand why it would bother other girls. I have the misfortune of being attracted to sleazy men.
Actually, If you're going out with someone then you should have a pretty good idea of what he is like, so if he calls you "his lady" but is respectful enough for you to still go out with him then i don't really see a problem.
