Besides the big hit song everyone knows, anything else you can recommend by this group?

Oh, uh...you know...it's, uh, all, uh, pretty good stuff, man.

Rides Again is a fantastic classic rock album and I find Thirds to be pretty solid, as well.

Mr. Ralph, you have no opinion on this?

If two cents are still worth anything I'd like to say that after the Gang was pretty much done doing any major tours, their drummer used to come out and see our band. This guy Jim was so enthusiastic about new music that it has always stuck with me. All those kind words, none of them being "practice harder". Good stuff for a 13 year old musician to hear. He also never told us who the hell he was. We asked later who that cat was and somebody told us.

This is a great story. I like hearing about bands who were formed by fans.

James Gang - not my fav, but not crap. Joe Walsh's best work by 10,000 miles. What a great slide player.

I was always fondest of Rides Again, mainly due to "The Bomber," but I enjoyed all three Joe Walsh-era James Gang records (post-Walsh albums are comparable to post-Danny Whitten Crazy Horse records or post-Ian Hunter "Mott" records). A while back, a friend bought a James Gang best-of CD, and I was psyched to have all of their best songs culled in one place. When I listened to it, though, I was kinda underwhelmed. A trusted friend, however, assures me that Yer Album (the one I'm least familiar with) is a lost classic, so I guess I'm due for a reappraisal I'm wondering, though, if this isn't one of those bands that sobriety ruins for you.

I saw them open for Alice Cooper. I don't recall the lineup at the time, but it was 1974. They seemed to be alright at the time.
