So we've been toying with the idea of where to master our recording that we're about to do. We thought about just listing the records that we think that are really to our liking and collectively decide from there. Of course, we're somewhat limited by finances but would like to get the best sound within our budget.

Is there a pricing standard for mastering like recording?

Who masters your records?

May I be so bold as to direct you towards this forum's search function, before one of my more vulgar colonial cousins casts aspersions upon your mater.

I try to use the same person as much as possible in order to get consistent feedback.

That person is usually Gene Grimaldi at Oasis mastering.

We had a great experience at Mastermind Productions in Milwaukee. Our expectations were surpassed, which for us is
extraordinary.

Trevor Sadler will do ya right.

Look at his credits:

I don't know for sure, but I have a hunch that Chicago Mastering Service is pretty good.

Cool. Steve said Bob was planning to open a mastering house last summer. When did the studio open? This is great news to me.

We're just slowly getting up to speed. We got our first check today for $50. The lathe will be operational in a few weeks. Right now it's CD only.

I use Abbey Road Studios in London mostly

I love the old EMI desks.... they dont usually actually do all that much, but I like the character the gear spills all over my work

Its really not cheap though..... : (

I for one will vouch whole-heartedly for one Mr. Jason Ward, who is a superb engineer and wonderful human being.

Even though he's from Houston.

ahem.
