I've always been intrigued by Cricket. I receive information periodically
from a sports publication that sends me email.
I can not make heads or tails out of the following "score" information, but
thought you should know how the England and South Africa test is
coming along.

Hi, my first post here and it is about cricket and not audio. Great. But to not reply would be, well, unAustralian.....

Cricket is indeed a bizarre game. I won't begin to explain it to you, but if you do so desire "The" knowledge then i will be more than happy to provide you with the details. But let me just say that "Test" cricket is indeed one of the most mentally challenging sports played in the world. Any game that takes 5 days to play and may end up in a draw has got to be tough!

Anyway, amused that you "follow'" cricket, hope you get to see some one day or 5....

I never stepped over that geek line to learn anything about the sport.

Why am I sharing this?

I like listening to the cricket match highlights on BBC radio, because it sounds like they are speaking English, I even recognize the words, but it is really an alien language.

man, i was mastering a record at abbey road a couple years ago, part of a three-album day, so i didn't have to/want to be in there the whole time

and i must've watched three hours of cricket

i couldn't gather the slightest idea of what was going on

it was a very strange feeling--i watch sports, i follow sports, i have played sports. but it was totally incomprehensible to me.

is there some kind of definitive cricket reference book around?

I played cricket at school until i was about 13.Then i heard AC/DC and started a band.More boring to watch than golf.(If that's possible?)Living in a capital city in Australia you can't escape it.They televise anything to do with cricket down here.Got questions?Ask away.

2. the 3 sticks at each end of the pitch (also referred to as stumps)

3. a batsmans obligation (as in the players right to protect his wicket, or you took his wicket ie. he is "out", as in baseball.
